Utah Crew's 2019 Fall Season

FALL SEASON!  Utah Crew is offering great programming for the 2019 fall season for female and male athletes ages 13-18.   We have options for all levels of experience and interest.   A description follows, and registration links at the top of this home page.

Key events and dates:

  • Parent Info Session:  8/27 @ 6:00 pm at Sugar House Park at the Big Field Pavilion.  This is a great opportunity for anyone interested to learn and to meet the coach and experienced rowers
  • Season:  8/26 - 11/10.  (Rec season ends on 11/1.)
    1. Rec Program ($400/season) takes places on M, W, F from 4-6 pm
    2. Comp Program ($700/season) takes places on M, W, Th, F from 4-6 and Sa from 8-11.
  • Camp & Row ($75/rower):  Parents (optional) and rowers are welcome to join the team at Moon Lake in the Uintahs.  We camp by the lake and row 2x/day to get a jump on the fall season.   8/30-9/2
  • Regattas:  Comp rowers are expected to go to all regattas.  Travel costs (air, vans, gas, registrations, and food) are additional to the Utah Crew seasonal fee.   Rec rowers are welcome to compete at the Head of the Wasatch in Park City:
    1. Head of the Wolf (Colorado):  9/7-9/8
    2. Head of the Wasatch (Park City):  9/21
    3. Head of the Charles (Cambridge):  10/18-10/20 (leaving on red eye on 10/17).  (Select boats only)
    4. San Diego Classic (San Diego):  11/9-11/10

PracticeLocation:   Jordan Surplus Canal (launching from the lot behind Mardian at 2155 W. Indiana Circle, SLC).

What to Bring to Practice:   Water, hat, sunglasses, and sun screen are key.  It can be hot in the early fall, and there is no water fountain at the site.  Wear sports clothing.  Lycra shorts are best to avoid getting loose cloth stuck in the tracks of the moving seats.   Shoes will likely get muddy.  Many rowers wear sandals or old shoes.  As it starts to get cooler, wear layers and bring a warm hat and gloves.  We row in the rain, so rain jackets are a good idea if rain is forecast.  Wool or synthetics are better than cotton since clothes tend to get wet when we row.

Recurring monthly donations help us serve more youth rowers!

Utah Crew

Utah Crew is a non profit rowing club that provides recreational and competitive rowing programs for youth ages 13-18 across Northern Utah.  We operate as one team across the Wasatch Back and Front with practice sites at both the Jordanelle Reservoir in Park City and the Jordan Surplus Canal in Salt Lake City.  We are supported by parents and community donations.

Utah Crew is truly a great fit for those looking to cultivate their athleticism and make life long friends. Rowing is the ultimate team sport and not only helps kids to enhance their fitness, but also their community and social skills through racing and team bonding. Novices (those with no prior rowing experience) are encouraged to join our recreational or competitive team.
